Meet Amanda: Snow Falls' Most Caffeinated Crime Fighter

Aug 25, 2025

"If a moose has the right-of-way, so do I with this mug."

If you've been following my Alaska Cozy Mystery series, you know that every great detective needs an even greater best friend. Enter Amanda—Snow Falls' resident coffee connoisseur, sass dispenser, and the woman who can solve a mystery faster than she can brew a perfect pot of French roast.

I'll be honest with you: when I first started writing Sarah's adventures, I thought she'd be flying solo through the frozen streets of Snow Falls. But Amanda? She had other plans. This character practically wrote herself into existence, complete with an opinion about everything and a coffee mug permanently attached to her hand.

Why Amanda Steals Every Scene

There's something magical about a sidekick who refuses to stay in the background. Amanda's got the sharpest wit this side of the Yukon and absolutely zero patience for small-town nonsense. While Sarah's busy being diplomatic and thoughtful, Amanda's the one asking the questions everyone else is too polite to voice.

And let's talk about her relationship with coffee—it's practically a love affair. The woman treats her morning brew like it's liquid wisdom, and honestly? In Snow Falls, where alibis run colder than the winter wind, maybe it is.

Amanda's Off-the-Page Musings

Here's something fun I've been working on: giving Amanda a voice beyond the pages of my books. Think of it as Amanda's unfiltered commentary on life in Snow Falls—the thoughts she has between mysteries, the observations she makes while people-watching from the coffee shop, the little quips that don't always make it into the official cases.

These aren't scenes from the books—they're Amanda being Amanda when Sarah's not around to witness it. The real, unvarnished thoughts of a woman who's seen enough small-town drama to fill a library and has the coffee addiction to prove it.

Life in Snow Falls (Population: Humans, Moose, and Mysteries)

One of my favorite things about writing Amanda is how she sees Snow Falls. To her, it's not just a quaint Alaskan town—it's a place where traffic includes antlers, where everyone knows everyone's business (whether they want to or not), and where murder has an unfortunate habit of interrupting perfectly good coffee breaks.

The dynamics between Amanda and Sarah are what make this series tick for me as a writer. Sarah brings the methodical detective work, but Amanda? She brings the heart, the humor, and the kind of brutal honesty that only a best friend can deliver.

Amanda Speaks (When Sarah's Not Listening)

I've created a little peek into Amanda's world—her unguarded thoughts and observations about Snow Falls life. Consider it bonus content, straight from the mind of everyone's favorite caffeinated sidekick. Trust me, once you hear what Amanda really thinks about moose traffic and small-town politics, you'll understand why I had to give her this platform!

Start Your Snow Falls Adventure

If Amanda's perspective has caught your attention (and how could it not?), I'd love for you to dive into the full Alaska Cozy Mystery series and meet her officially on the page. Fair warning: once you get to know the residents of Snow Falls, you might find yourself planning a very cold vacation.
